Chorlton Cohousing and ManCoho are pleased to announce the birth of their joint enterprise MICO (Manchester Intergenerational Cohousing).
Over a period of time our two groups recognised that we have very similar aims. Equally importantly, we all get along and, in working together, we bring more to the table. Bringing together children and adults of all ages with our combined experience and expertise will create a stronger, more innovative and energetic community.
We operate in the Greater Manchester area with an emphasis on Southern Greater Manchester at present. Part of our motivation in joining forces is the increasing likelihood we could be included in two exciting development opportunities, one in Trafford and one in Chorlton. Both sites allow for our cohousing scheme to be an integral part of mixed developments with a community house for MICO and shared garden, guest rooms, laundry etc. We would like to maximise the proportion of truly affordable housing and have as wide a mix of tenures as possible.
We are in discussions with the owners of these sites and potential developers and are at the stage where we want to involve more members in the process of creating what we see as an eco-village.
MICO is now actively seeking new members. It is an exciting opportunity to be involved at this stage in progressing these two projects. If you would like to learn more or apply for membership please contact us on our website:
