Wales sustainable co-housing group seeks founding members

About

We are an early-stage co-housing project looking for founding members. Our intention is to form an actively sustainable and environmentally motivated community of 5-10 households on a 10-15 acre smallholding somewhere near the Welsh coast (e.g. Pembrokeshire). If you are keen to live a low-impact life, combining permaculture principles and renewable technology to create welcoming homes that take great care of us then this could be a project for you.

A diverse, multi-generational, and varied community is important to us, and we would be looking to create a mixture of dwelling sizes & costs to support this. Many people with different skills will be needed for this project.

We intend to emulate stable and successful communities and building types such as Hockerton Housing Project and passive architecture. We’re inspired by pragmatic environmentalism such as we’ve seen at places like the Centre for Alternative Technology. There’d be a modest community time commitment, in addition, the group would aspire to support individual or group ventures with appropriate spaces/workshops and good internet connectivity.

Current status: forming the group and making preparations to purchase land in ~2 years’ time to establish over the following 3-4 years.
