In January 2015 we asked all of our members and contacts to join in our ‘Big Conversation’ on the UK Cohousing Network’s activities and membership offer. We had a total of 147 responses, with 44% respondents from cohousing groups with a current UK Cohousing Network membership.
We found that most people had been aware of the Network for over 2 years, and 30% respondents had attended an event hosted by or with us, which is great as we like to build up relationships with our members and contacts, and really like meeting everyone face to face too! Our members like our lobbying activity and think it’s important we keep going with it, but they also want resources, how to guides and networking events.
We specifically wanted to consult on our membership package, as we want to offer more, and we found that invitations to physical shout out networking events and a legal toolkit were some of the most popular elements of the proposed new membership packages. We are still finalising the costing and the final contents of the new membership offers, and we will update everyone as soon as we can.
Interestingly we found that not all of our respondents engage with us on social media, so please follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page, as we share a lot of useful news and events on these pages.
Finally, we asked everyone who took part in the Big Conversation to sum up what cohousing meant to them in less than 30 words. We analysed the answers for the most common words, and the results can be seen in the word cloud above.
