UKCN is delighted to announce that we have received funding from the Big Lottery Accelerating Ideas pilot, which aims to “to fund projects of national and UK-wide significance (in terms of interest, impact or influence) that contribute to the Big Lottery Fund’s mission to improve communities and the lives of people most in need.”
The focus of our bid was on the potential benefits of cohousing in the context of an ageing population and will look at both senior and intergenerational cohousing.
The pilot is about developing a framework from which we will then be in a position to seek further funding to deliver the outcomes of this work more widely:
- to provide robust evidence of the cohousing benefits, particularly to seniors;
to survey demand for cohousing living amongst seniors in both urban and rural settings; - to identify the structured support that would ‘accelerate’ enabling of cohousing projects;
- to obtain expressions of interest from organisations seeking to adapt existing older persons residential services to a cohousing model
Some of this work will be outsourced, linking with other organisations and some will be facilitated through the Network by Anna. Please contact anna@cohousing.org.uk if you would like to get involved or discuss the kinds of enhanced support that would accelerate the development of your group.
