Springhill Cohousing South West For Sale
Group Description
All properties on Springhill are sold with a 999 year lease with a start date of 2003 or 2004. The freeholder is the Springhill Cohousing Community Ltd. whose shareholders are all owners of properties on Springhill. So when you buy a property you join the company as a shareholder (a single share can be in the name of 2 people) and when you sell your property your share is transferred to the new buyer. This arrangement is designed to safeguard your investment in your own property. The lease is very similar to that which would apply if you were buying a flat in a block of flats, but it has additional clauses specific to Cohousing. Your solicitor will be able to give you proper legal advice on the lease and other matters. All information here is informal and should not be treated as legal advice.
When a property changes hands at Springhill, the lease specifies that a levy of 0.5% of the purchase price is paid to the Springhill Cohousing Community. Any buyer of this property will be responsible for making this payment.

Group Name: Region E.G. SW, SE, W. Mids etc: Rent/Sale/Both?:
Postlip Hall Cohousing SW For Sale
Group Description

We are a small community of eight families living in separate homes within a large Cotswold manor house. Our bit of the Postlip Valley holds a mainly Jacobean house, a medieval Tithe Barn, and the 12C Chapel of St James, in Gloucestershire. We do lots of things together, from growing organically and maintaining the house and grounds to running public events but we also have private lives.

We are currently looking for new members to join our community. Unit 3 is one of our larger homes and, as such, would ideally suit a couple or a family.http://www.postliphall.org.uk/join-postlip.html).

Available Property Description

A four bedroom home situated over 3 levels. Price: £427 000 - Under offer

A three/four bedroom home situated over 4 levels. Price £364,500

Situated on the north east side of the house, unit 2 occupies part of the original ‘hall house’ built in the early 1500s. Spread across four floors, the unit is located within the larger house uniquely offering direct access to lawns, the main communal hall and the courtyard. This family home has been recently decorated and carpeted throughout.

GROUND FLOOR

Sitting Room
The large open plan ground floor sitting room/kitchen/diner with views of the
‘Walnut Lawn’, Postlip Valley and Sudeley Castle in the distance,
stretches the width of the original house. It features exposed beams set in
14 foot high ceilings, stone mullioned windows (as well as internal stained
glass windows, part of the original external façade before the later
Jacobean extension) and newly refinished hardwood floors. It also features a
2 year old Woodwarm wood burning stove inside a large carved stone fireplace,
bespoke kitchen units and a new cooker. Central heating to all rooms, as well
as hot water, is provided by a regularly serviced Worcester Bosch oil fired
boiler.

Entrance Hall
The unit shares a small ground floor entrance hall off the main lawn and has
a private internal entrance hall and cloakroom, which links the kitchen to
the courtyard and the main hall. This entry way also includes a newly
decorated downstairs loo, stairs up to the first floor and a stone stairway
down to the cellar.

CELLAR
The unit has its own full stone cellar/workshop with two large stone tanks of
unknown provenance that are set into one wall, opposite are stone wine bins
and what we think are masons’ trial pieces with carved initials and the
dates 1619 and 1696, which may be when the cellar was enlarged. A tunnel
leads south under the house to exit on the bank below the front lawn. This
space is currently used as a wine cellar, workshop, gym and store room.

FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS

Bedrooms
Upstairs, the unit’s bedrooms are arranged across the upper two floors,
served by two staircases divided by the building’s central wall.
There are two large double bedrooms both with dressed stone fireplaces,
original beamed ceilings and views over half an acre of lawn and the hills
beyond.
The larger L shaped first floor bedroom is also used as an upstairs sitting
room and includes secondary glazing and a walk-in closet (this also houses an
airing cupboard adjacent to the hot water cylinder (complete with immersion
heater).
On the second floor, a dual aspect double room with fireplace and dormer
windows has a cupboard/wardrobe as well as a ceiling hatch which gives access
to full height loft space above, offering storage as well as a cold water
tank).
Tucked into the eaves on the other side of the house are a single bedroom and
a galleried attic room, which is used as a spare bedroom and a games/play
room. Both have original beams and overlook the courtyard and the old stone
roofs of the Hall.

Family Bathroom
Also on the courtyard side of the house is a family bathroom with stone tiled
floor, whirlpool bath and built in shower, cupboard space and a floor to
ceiling radiator, which also functions as a heated towel rail.

* Price includes our legal and associated costs and is subject to an
adjustment at the point of sale to allow for variation in the market.

Group Name: Region E.G. SW, SE, W. Mids etc: Rent/Sale/Both?:
Cannock Mill Cohousing Colchester East of England Sale
Group Description

Cannock Mill Site PlanWe are a friendly, mutually supportive group, mainly in our 50s and 60s, building 23 environmentally-friendly homes with a shared ‘common house’. We are aiming to develop a diverse and lively community that respects differences and is aware of its impact on the environment and our neighbours.

Cannock Mill Cohousing is located in the community of Old Heath, about a mile from the centre of Colchester. Within the urban context of this vibrant and historic town, it is set in the green oasis of the Bourne valley, whose stream has fed a series of mills going back to the 12th century.

Local shops are within walking distance and four bus routes pass the site, going into town and to the mainline station (London Liverpool Street 47 mins). The beautiful Essex coast lies close by to the east. Colchester’s rich and diverse cultural life is enhanced by Essex University and Colleges in the town.

Available Property Description

We have planning permission for 23 new homes, to be built to Passivhaus and Lifetime Homes standards, overlooking the historic Cannock Mill and its restored pond. The mill will become our common house and will include additional guest accommodation, adding flexibility for those downsizing from their current homes.

We have a selection of properties available, from 1-bedroom flats to 3-bedroom houses.

The houses are terraced and have green roofs. The larger ones have an integral and adaptable garage/studio/utility space. Due to the sloping site, the spectacular open-plan living space and kitchen area of all the houses occupies the entire top floor, each with a south-facing balcony.

The flats will be within a new two-storey block of six flats that will be built next to our Grade II listed timber-framed mill, and will overlook the mill pond. The bedrooms of the 1-bed flats currently available could be split into 2 smaller bedrooms, or a bedroom and a study.
