Webinar recording: The story of Lilac

This is a recording of a short webinar about how the Lilac community in Leeds came into being. The webinar is hosted by the UK Cohousing Network and the presenter is Paul Chatterton a co-founder of Lilac.

Lilac stands for Low Impact Living Affordable Community and is situated in Bramley Leeds. The community comprises of 20 households, a common house- complete with communal dining area and kitchen/living area and guest rooms, allotments, off site car parking, constructed from local straw bales and play area! Probably more besides. Residents pay a percentage share of the development costs of their home to a Mutual Home Ownership Society. Monthly payments are capped at 35% of net income making this the UK's first equitable home ownership scheme.
