New fund to support cohousing projects: Community Led Project Support Fund

NOW OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS - £14 million Community Led Project Support Fund to support a wide variety of community led building projects including cohousing and other types of community assets.

The Homes and Communities Agency is administering the fund with support from Locality. For details on the eligibility criteria, exclusions and how to apply see http://www.homesandcommunities.co.uk/community-led-project-support. The Fund is a 90% grant fund to support project development (requiring match funding of 10%). The Fund will remain open until the funding is fully committed or by the end of March 2015 (whichever is first).

The Community Led Project Support Fund has two access routes:

(1) community groups that are aiming towards a traditional planning outcome, either outline or full planning permission

(2) community organisations aiming for a community right to build development order

The Greater London Authority has announced that they will be creating a similar fund and have asked London groups to make direct contact to discuss proposals.

The fund is offered retrospectively against 4 project milestones.  Applications can be made requesting support at different stages of development and groups are required to provide 10% match funding. In the first instance applicants must be a corporate body and meet the criteria of a community organisation or Parish Council (see guidance in above link).

We are organising pre-application support learning events in the autumn across seven English regions, called Getting it Built. Dates to be announced by Monday 16th September.
