Sussex Street Cohousing owns a development site in Sussex Street, Norwich, which was purchased in August 2015. It's a small brownfield site in a conservation area, in walking distance of the city centre. We plan to build our homes to a high standard and move in in 2018.
The Sussex Street site has an existing planning permission for 17 units, mostly two and three bed, plus 238 square meters of communal space. Outside space is limited to patios, balconies and a south-facing courtyard, plus an undercroft car park.
Our group grew out of Norwich Cohousing, a loose group that spent many years looking for a site or a development partner. Now we have our site the membership is growing - both in size and in the sense of community. New members welcome.
As well as through our website you can also keep up to date with our developments via our Facebook group.

Eyesore Norwich site could be turned into Danish-style cohousing scheme
This is the main project planning stage: acquiring the site, gaining planning permission, finding funding and tendering with a contractor. This stage concludes with signing off funding and moving on-site to start the construction works.
We have periodic drop-in 'introduction' sessions at a local community space, that are specifically aimed at new or prospective members. We ask anyone interested in our project to come to one of these 'intro' sessions first. We also have regular members meetings, business meetings and socials, which are all listed on our website. From our website you can join our mailing list, which will keep you up to date with our activities.
