Sturts Farm Co-housing Community

Primary tabs

Intention

Our intention is to create a welcoming, lively, social and cultural centre linking with West Moors to enable local people to take part; whether that be through working, volunteering, growing food, attending courses, sharing in social/cultural events, or receiving support.

Aims

Our aim is to create an inclusive and diverse community based on four distinct entities:

  • An inclusive co-housing community with a rich social and cultural life

Creating supportive neighbourhoods of inclusive co-housing offering each tenant the benefit of their own front door and security of tenure, as well as the mutual support and friendship of neighbours. Our concept of neighbourhood is one in which each person actively commits to support a vibrant social and cultural life.

  • A person-centred support and care service

Supporting people in their own homes working to promote the uniqueness of each individual and foster self-reliance, personal responsibility, and citizenship. Allowing freedom of choice to develop individual skills and interests is a core principle.

  • Social enterprise initiatives based on sustainable community farming and land based activities.

A farm that is open to the residents of West Moors and other neighbouring villages, thereby creating a centre for community-supported agriculture and education about care of the land.
