Please note, this event is for Housing Association chief executives and senior level staff of sheltered/retirement housing providers
Providers of sheltered housing are facing a number of financial challenges that threaten the viability of many of their schemes. They are also seeking to ensure that they continue to meet the changing aspirations and priorities of a new generation of older people wanting more active and independent ways of life.
Finding creative and innovative solutions, working with current and future residents, is critical. One option that is attracting increasing interest is the idea of enabling the creation of 'cohousing communities' within existing schemes. This is where the residents take on the management of their scheme, procuring their own services, organising their own social activities, and building their own community based on friendship and mutual support.
HACT, working with UK Cohousing Network and Housing LIN, will be running aninteractive workshop to debate these challenges and opportunities for service transformation.
Venue: National Council for Voluntary Organisations, Society Building, 8 All Saints Street, London N1 9RL
